LG Wireless Phone

If I have an LG VU cell phone from ATT and my account goes to collections, will I be able to sell the phone?

1. If you bought the phone already and you have paid the bill for the month you purchased the phone, then its yours... But i'm not positive...
2. the phone is yours to do whatever you want with it att just wants your money for your phone bill they can only cancel your service and ask for your money
