ATT Home prepaid service?

For the past 2 years, I have not used the ATT home phone service. Obviously I don't hear the line tone but I hear the dialing sound, And since the line is working properly (except for the line tone because of no service) I was wondering if I could use the ATT Prepaid phone service with my old phone number, is this possible? please check it out.. http://www.consumer.att.com/prepaidcard/

  1. not with what you linked to... you have no dial tone at your current location, but you say that when you press a digit on your phone you can hear the touch tone sounds... if this is a cordless that does not mean much.. but if your phone is a corded phone then that means that your phone line is connected from your home all the way to the central office... in order to use your home phone you would need to call a local telephone provider and have the service restored, or installed... you will likely be charged an installation fee, but it does not appear that they will need to send a tech out to install the line.. the link that you posted goes to a prepaid phone card, those are used from an active telephone line to make long distance or international calls, not to replace telephone service...
  2. those cards are to use with an existing home phone line. to get your phone on you will need to call at&t and ask for new residential service. You can request if a certain number is available, but it is unlikely you will get the number you want... most places the pots (plain old telephone service) line starts at $19/mo + tax ; there are other packages with features and long distance too if that's what you want. just call 1-877-u-ask-att or go to https://swot.sbc.com/swot/qualifyingController.do use referral code JR0583 good luck!
