How do you set a sound as a ringtone on an LG VX5200 phone from Verizon Wireless?

I made my own ringtone out of an mp3 with a program. Everything went fine with the sending until it actually got to my phone. I was only able to save it as a sound but there are no options to set the sound file as a ringtone. Is this a bug or just something Verizon is apparently a bitch about?

1. verizon wireless is just being an a** about it
2. I have an LG 8100 not sure if there is any likeness with that but on mine You go to where the "get it now" stuff is located and it has a "my sounds" options and you set it to a tone like that.
