Problems with a verizon lg vx8300 cell phone?

I have a verizon vx8300 cell phone which worked perfectly for about 8 months then all of a sudden stopped turning on. When the phone is on the charger it is on and fully operatable yet as soon as i take it off it stops working. Is there anyhting i can do to fix this?

1. might be something wrong with the battery or a shortage somewhere in the battery case...take it to a store and let a tech look at it.
