Blackberry Curve 8320 Wifi AT&T Without Data Plan?

ATT. PERSONAL EXPERIENCE USERS ONLY. NO GUESSES Im with AT&T and am eligible to upgrade to Blackberry Curve 8320. I DO NOT want data package. Can I use the phone's wifi to access wireless routers w/out data plan? A CS rep told me no, but it makes no sense why a chip wouldnt detect a router.

1. Yes you can! What is the point otherwise in having a wi-fi. They might as well call it a data connection! I have an 8320 with T-Mobile and it works with just my router/connection and no data plan.
