Can I access the Internet on my laptop through my Verizon phone using usb bluetooth adapter?
My phone has bluetooth capability and I subscribe to the internet on it. I was wondering so I don't have to be near a wifi access point. Like on the beach or camping.

- Not sure, but I doubt it. Verizon does offer a card that plugs into your PC/MCIA card (they probably have USB cards as well for laptops that don't have PC/MCIA). Anyway, the Verizon card gives you internet access anywhere the Verizon network works for your cell phone, so probably most of the places you ever go. I think you can get plans for this around $29.99/mo, but I'm not sure about restrictions (like limited online minutes) that they have. I don't think you'd want to use the web off your cell phone anyway b/c when you access the web w/ a mobile device you're pulling up special mobile pages that are really small memory downloads. So, basically, if you used the speed of your cell phone's connection on your laptop everything would load really slow b/c you'd get no bandwidth. Plus, like I said, my guess is that Verizon does not allow this b/c they'd rather people buy the PC/MCIA card for the computer and also pay for the mobile web access. Logically, they won't be devoting any resources to helping customers bypass another one of their products.
- On most of them you can you just need a bluetooth adapter for your laptop . I used to have the plan for that on my phone . If your phone has 3g and you are where you can access it it is as fast as dsl. But they call that tethering and it is covered on a different plan if you use the standard unlimited phone internet plan they can and sooner or later will charge you extra for it.
- depends on the model of phone, the treo 700wx will work for that. However using bluetooth is slow for the internet... They make a usb cable for certain models (treo 700wx for one) for that as well...
