Verizon WIFI not free?

I was thinking of buying a new phone with wifi. Verizon tells me i have to pay 50.00 per month for this service. If i already have a wireless system in my house why cant i connect for free like everything else i own that works with wifi? What a rip! Are there any companies that do not charge you for this, because i will leave Verizon in a heartbeat.

1. They Lie,,, I have T Mobile and have a Dash and Wing both have WiFi on them and I dont pay for anything I dont even have a Data plan. I use both phones WiFi from my router and also get WiFi at some hotels and coffie shops only a few places that want a fee but never paid for WiFi.
