Problem with wifi and my tmobile blackberry 8120?

Sometimes I want to switch over from wifi (UMA) to EDGE because sometimes when there's too much traffic the phone call will sound really bad. So sometimes ill unplug the router and sometimes ill turn off the wifi from the phone while im on the phone call. however, whenever i do this, the call will get disconnected. the call wont get disconnected if I simply walk "out of range" from the router, which is outside my house and my business. Im not using a tmobile branded router for this. I'm using belkin and linksys, and the same problem is occurring on both routers. I would appreciate any help Thanks

  1. Its nothing you can do about that. I have the curve and the same thing happens to me. I called t-mobile and they told me that "they're working on it". So yeah it sucks!.
  2. There isn't a setting to prevent this. The only time the call will switch from UMA to EDGE is if you walk out of range of the wireless router. Turning off Wi-Fi will drop the call. What I do is leave the voice calling on EDGE but still have Wi-Fi enabled for data (since I don't use the HotSpot@Home plan). In order to do this I go to Options > Mobile Network and set the Connection Preference option to Mobile Network Only. This way, calls will always be over the cellular network, and data (Internet browsing, e-mail) will have the Wi-Fi speed.
