Verizon Wireless- upgrading a phone online?

I currently have the LG Dare, and I am going to upgrade to the Samsung Omnia today via the verizon website. But since I am not eligible for an upgrade, it says I have to pay full retail price. 1) Do I still get the mail in rebate? 2) Under the phone's name in the online checkout, it says "0-year contract". Does that mean that I will have to purchase a new contract for it later, or will my contract from my LG Dare transfer to the new phone?

1. You will pay full retail price for the phone if you are not elligble for an upgrade. No discounts, etc. 0-year contract means you are not signing an additional contract because you are paying the full retail price of the phone. You will still have to finish out your contract you currently have.
