Verizon keeps telling me that programming my chocolate phone doesn't work?

Why can't I program my new Verizon Chocolate phone? I've tried to program my new phone multiple times today, but after dialing " * 228 " and pressing option "1" it tells me to wait while my phone is being programmed. But about 2-3 seconds later, it abruptly says,"I'm sorry, we are unable to program your verizon wireless phone." Why isn't it working? I've tried inside and outside, standing still, walking, etc. Nothing works. Paul

From my contact at Verizon: if he is switching phones, old one may be still programmed...has to turn it off or, he may not be in a vzw 'area' if in extended area he will have to do manual programming. or, he may not have gone thru the initial ivr setup to agree to new terms and conditions.... whateva it is, he need to call customer service Shima
  2. You need to manually program the phone. Call customer care and they can walk you through it- either *611 from the phone or 800-922-0204
