Verizon Wireless phone?

My phone broke under warranty, took to a Verizon Store, they sent a new one to me. Then I took it back and got it activated. They guy gave me the broken phone back. Now, over a month later there is a nearly a 300 dollars fee for not returning the phone. First of all the gay at the store gave it back and I get rid of it. Has this happened to anybody before?
