How long can you be late until Verizon Wireless shuts off your phone?

I currently lost my job and have no income coming-in. I'm wondering how long I can be late on my Verizon bill without them shutting off my phone. The bill is for $140 due Jan 1, 2009. I paid $65 of the balance so now I own them $81.00 which is late. I spoke to a couple Customer service people and one person said only 12 days and the other said 30. Although I had friends who told me 60 days. Which one is it? What should I do?

1. Anytime you are at least 30 dys past due you are in jeapordy of being shut off unless you call fin services and make arrangements with them to keep your service on. Anything under 30 dys just gives you a $5 late fee. Sometimes they wait til 60 dys but they can shut you off at 30.
