Cell Phone problem: LG Verizon Wireless Phone please read details?

I have an LG Verizon Wireless Phone. I was sending myself ringtones and the "sending" screen showed up and it said "connecting" which ment the message was gonna show up. It's been at the same screen for about 2 hours and I can't cancel or turn off my phone or go to anything or call anyone anymore.. what should I do? I thought about taking the phone battery out and putting it back in but I don't know if it's okay to do that because this is my first phone. Please help me! Thankyou to those who do

2. Your phone froze up, the only way out is remove your batt, leave it out for 1 minute then turn the phone back on it should be ok,
3. Take the battery out for a few seconds then put it back in and turn on your phone. What would taking out your battery possibly do to harm/damage anything? - Nothing.
4. Take battery out.
