How exactly would cell phones cause brain damage?

Radio frequencies are extremely low energy, not even enough to get a molecule spinning around as I understand. How is it that they could have any effect on your brain? Note: I'm not interested in whether or not cell phones actually do cause brain damage- I understand its a current topic of debate. My question is: by what mechanism could the low frequencies used for cellular phones possibly cause damage to living tissue?

  1. They will only effect your brain if you talk on it while it's plugged in and charging.
  2. The theory (and I don't particularly buy it myself) is that the brain damage occurs near the antenna. I know you are thinking "low energy", but in order to get the ranges that most cell phone users want, they have to put out more power than you would think.
  3. I might be wrong but it might be the radio waves going through your head BTW radio waves are only 1 wave per cm lucky it's not ultraviolet rays 1 million per cm! :D
  4. Not sure the waves will cause damage....but if you are hit in the head with the cell phone hard enough...well...there you go.
  5. It is not a "current topic of debate." Cell phones do not cause brain damage, and there is no mechanism to do so. People who spread such rumours are not terribly interested in mechanisms, only its general naive plausibility and the psychological need the rumour satisfies.
  6. it was proved to not cause this
