LG dare charged with different cell phone charger?

I have heard that charging your cell phone with a charger not intended for your phone is bad for the phones battery. Does anyone actually know if this is true or not? I forgot my charger and I'm using one that fits into my lg dare, which is the new razr phone, that my mom has...

1. NO! It will short the phone!! Motorola makes the worst products all the mroe reason not to. If you had an LG charger then thats fine, but do not use other companies. Espeically crappy motorola.
2. I wouldn't use it as a permanent solution, but for now it should be fine. I work for a cell phone store, and in my experience if the charger were going to do any damage to the phone, either the plug wouldn't fit or the phone would pop up with an error message like "invalid charger." Since the plug fits and apparently no error messages are coming up, I'd say you are all set for now.
3. If it fits, you should be fine for short term usage.
