Can I just buy a cell phone without a plan?

I already have a red krzr along with a cell phone plan at verizon but I want to get a lg venus in pink but is it possible to get the replacement cell phone without having to get a plan?

8. yeah you can put it on a Go Phone plan but they suck it's $1 for everyday you use it and $00.10 per minute
9. yes but you will have to pay the full price which is for the unlocked version of the phone , when i say unlocked < not locked to one network E.g. sprint> also you can use it on foreign countries . i suggest get a quad band phone
