LG Wireless Phone

Can you buy a cell phone from one company and hook it up with another?

I need a new cell phone and I really want the LG Venus. I'm with Rogers but they don't cell that type of LG. Can you buy a phone from any company (ex. Telus) and then take it to Rogers and they'll hook it up with one of their plans, or no? Thanks!!

  1. As long as it has the same technology (CDMA, GSM, ext.) and is unlocked you can activate it with another carrier.
  2. ok this is what your supposed to do the phone has to be unlocked and then you can use any phone for any service provider so find an venus on ebay or somewhere and then call your service provider and they will hook up your service with rogers to your new phone!
  3. if its unlocked and uses the same technology so if Rogers Uses sims then what ever company you want to hook it up with should uses sims as well or if they use CDMA then ect.
  4. Yes, you can. All you have to do is get the phone unlocked. You can also buy an unlocked phone and use it with your present plan. You have to keeo this in mind that the phone and the network should be compatible, GSM phone will only work with GSM network and not CDMA. LG Venus is CDMA so it will only work with CDMA network not with Rogers coz Rogers is GSM. If you need unlocked phones, you can mail me or talk with me on Yahoo!
