How do I make my own ring tones for the phone I just got?

When I bought my new LG Venus cell phone they salesman said that I could also make my own ringtones. I cannot seem to figure out how to do that. I was wonderin if i can do it through vcast.

3. If you are able to make them on your phone, just start reading through the manual. That would be able to help you the best when it comes to your new phone. However, if you want a less generic ringtone, such as a song, then http://www.myxer.com/ would probably be the best choice to go. The site does not charge you anything, however your plan may charge you for the texts involved. On myxer, you can upload your own songs and pick the specific section of the song you want.

5. I think the salesman lied to you, but as always I may be wrong. Making your own tones is a rather old function in the days of the mono and polyphonic tones...before colour screens really. I havent seen this function in ages. To be honest, why would you want to do it when you can plug it into your PC and get your favourite tunes as your ring tone?
