New LG Chocolate..Is it that bad?
I was set on buying this phone until I saw comments on Yahoo! Answers of people who said this is the worst phone they have ever had! (Maybe they were talking about the old..?) My carrier is Verizon and this is the only phone that caught my eye. I have some questions... How much does the phone cost regularly? How much GB of music can I put on it? Does it have good sound quality? What accessory do I need to buy in order to put music from my computer (not Verizon music store)? Is it worth the cost? Is there any other place online where it is cheaper and easy to buy? Please don't refer me to the Verizon Wireless website or the store. (I wanted to ask someone who has had the phone instead of someone who was just trying to sell me one) Suggestions and recommendations for other phones are welcome, but please do not suggest phones from other carriers... Thank you in advance!

- I'm probably one of the people that you saw saying the VX8500 Chocolate sucks. If you're talking about the VX8550 (with two fives) and not the VX8500 then the phone is great. The removal of the touch sensitive wheel was one of the best things to ever happen to the chocolate. There is now a clickable, rotating wheel for menu navigation that functions much much better. The other touch buttons now vibrate when you touch them, providing a response to let you know you have successfully activated them. The mis-timed lock feature has also been improved. The VX8550 is being sold at many places with a music pack and this is the best value. Its retail (with music pack) is somewhere in the $450 range. With a new contract or upgrade you will get it for less. This is also the first mp3 phone to recognize up to a 4gb microSD card (most other new phones only recognize up to 2gb and some older ones only up to 1gb). I don't know offhand how much memory is built in but its still a good idea to get the music pack with it anyhow if its being offered. Music pack comes with: 2 gb microSD card stereo headphones for mobile phone music software sync cable With the stereo headphones the sound quality is good. The phone's built in speaker however (no phone has great speakers) is not ideal for music. I don't own the phone alas because i got my phone before this one came out, but if i were to get one now i'd get that one. And this is coming from someone who loathes the original Chocolate (and the GSM KG800 version). I do work for a wireless retailer and I do get to try the phones out. If you want an mp3 phone that is a decent mp3 player this phone is excellent. With a new 2 year you will find the price to be roughly $100 without the music pack (which you will want to get eventually anyway because the stuff in it costs more separate)
- No, its really awesome! I think people are still talking about the old chocolate, but the new one is much better! I had the old chocolate, and it brake and I know someone who has gone through like 5 of them, but that was the old chocolate, the new one is very much improved, they fixed all the problems with it :) I think it is like $200, I am not sure how much music you can put on it, but if you get a micro SD card you can put up to 4GB plus, the storage that comes on the phone. Yes, it does, even better than the old chocolate, witch has awesome sound too, well, when you buy it I am pretty sure it comes with all you need if you buy it from Verizon, Yes it is worth the cost. You can buy it for really cheap on eBay, but if it breaks you cant get a new one so I would recommend getting insurance and getting it from Verizon.
